The Flash season 5: better look at new costume in official poster

A vibrant and glossy look at the new season 5 suit has arrived. Are we warming to it?

The Flash will return in the autumn for its fifth season on The CW, and this will now be our nerve centre for all the Century City news that's fit to print. We'll have all the casting latest, plus trailers, story details, and maybe even a spoiler or two - they'll be signposted ahead of time with our resident spoiler squirrel, Daphne, of course!

Barry will be getting a new suit in season 5, but the updated design caused waves online last week. A now-deleted Instagram post gave us a leaked sneak peek at the new Flash costume, but the internet is forever, so of course you could still see it pretty much everywhere.

The new, more comics-accurate look is ditching the leather pretty much altogether, and is primarily fabric-based. Indeed, a brand spanking new poster for season 5 offers a much better look at the new suit than the candid snap doing the rounds last week did...

The aforementioned leaked image attracted the attention of Some Very Grumpy People On The Internet, who set about body shaming star Grant Gustin, one of the purest, most wholesome milk duds in the universe. Boo at them. Boo.

The actor quickly fired back at these utter villains on his own IG account. "Read this if you have good enough eyes," he captioned.
We've already had our first trailer for season 5, and it reveals a brand new big bad in the form of none other than Chris Klein from American Pie! He'll be playing Cicada: "a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans, Cicada now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time."

Here's our first look at him, via the brand new Flash trailer from SDCC...
